I’m Beth Tribe and I joined Weight Watchers in June of 2011.   This blog really isn’t about me but written by me.  What I hope to accomplish with this blog is to share some of the great information that comes from the wise and wonderful people who attend the meetings.  Also tips and tricks I pick up along the way.  I think we can all benefit (whether we are on a weight loss journey or not) from the information gathered from these meetings.

I, like many, have struggled over the years with food and weight issues.  I’m no expert but I believe that information is power and I believe in sharing that information.  By having this information I have the power to make changes (for good) in my life.  I’m hoping that by sharing this information, others may learn and I can keep myself accountable.

On a more personal note – I have worked for Howard County Library System for over 25 years.  In my current position I create curriculum and instruct both our staff and public customers.  I’m tech savvy (again not an expert but I don’t shy away from trying something new) and I love how technology (when it works) can be just another tool in your arsenal.  I’m the proud owner of two lovely, sweet dogs (one Lab mix and an English Springer Spaniel).  My latest hobby is photography which I’m still struggling to learn all the ins and outs of but I do enjoy it immensely.

Hope you enjoy the blog, learn something and apply it to your life.

  1. Hey Beth, This is a really nice blog. Thank you for collecting this info, It’s good to be able to go back and remind ourselves of what was shared at the meetings. Keep it up! I’ll follow!!!

  2. Erika,

Thank you. If I miss anything please let me know. SO much goes on at the meetings I’m afraid I’m not always jotting everything done.

  3. Hi, Beth,
One of my first jobs was at a local library as a summer reading program coordinator. I loved that role and all that librarians have to offer our communities.
Anyway, the reason I’m writing today is to ask you to pass info to your readers and network about a study I’m conducting on partner undermining of weight loss (I only need 15 more for this round of recruitment!)

While it’s hard losing weight on your own, it’s not necessarily easier with a spouse or partner. Sometimes partners/spouses undermine weight loss through acts like complaining about healthier food, gifting high-caloric foods, or even through abusive language/acts. For my doctoral dissertation, I’m creating an anonymous, online survey to assess for partner undermining and to learn more from those who experience it.

To be eligible to take the survey, participants need to have experienced partner undermining to some degree in their current relationship (of at least the past 2 years), and have been participating in a weight loss program for the past 5 consecutive weeks. For more info, see http://tinyurl.com/Clark-Study. Upon completion, participants may opt to enter a drawing for $100.

    Thank you,
